Window treatments can be expensive, especially if they are custom made. So instead of spending your cash on that gorgeous print at $200 a yard for your living room drapes, save it for the toss pillows. Instead, buy inexpensive ready made drapes and customize them yourself. Here are a few ways how.
1. Tape it.
Sew on some pretty tape to the side or bottom of your drapes.
2. Paint it.
Use fabric paint and tape to create stripes or other geometric patterns.
3. Pom Poms
These fun little guys could look sophisticated and cute in a child's bedroom.
4. Dip Dye
Using a bucket and some dye you can color the bottom of your drapes or even create an ombre effect.
5. Buttons
But not your everyday buttons, get some with bling. MJ Trim has a great assortment of tapes, buttons, and tassels. Sew the buttons on to the sides of the panels or cascade them at random.
6. Embellishing Trims
Fancy trims can add a bit of fun to the bottom of a plain roman shade. Try something beaded or braided, but stay away from fringe tassels which can look a little outdated and fussy.
7. Feathers
If you are daring enough feathers can be fancy and whimsical. Steph and I are going to dress up cobalt velvet panels with peacock feather trim for the sitting room very soon. So excited!!
8. Necklace Tie Backs
How about using some of your statement necklaces to create pretty tie backs. I'm thinking J. Crew necklaces would be obviously gorgeous additions to your living room decor.
